Supporting Minds, Honoring Memories by Ashley Tarrant
June Is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month: Supporting Minds, Honoring Memories
At Overture Home Care, we believe that compassionate care begins with understanding—and June offers a powerful opportunity to do just that. Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month is a time to shine a light on the importance of brain health, raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, and honor the millions of families affected by these conditions.
Understanding Alzheimer’s
Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive brain disorder that affects memory, thinking, and behavior. It is the most common cause of dementia, impacting more than 6 million Americans today. While it typically affects those over the age of 65, early-onset Alzheimer’s can begin as early as in someone’s 40s or 50s.
There is currently no cure, but with early detection, appropriate care, and support, individuals living with Alzheimer’s can still experience quality of life.
Our Role in Dementia Care
At Overture Home Care, we provide specialized, non-medical home care services designed to support individuals living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Our caregivers are trained to meet the unique needs of those experiencing memory loss, helping to create safe, structured environments that promote comfort, routine, and dignity.
We focus on:
Personalized care plans tailored to the individual’s stage of memory loss and personal history.
Engagement activities that stimulate cognitive function and foster emotional well-being.
Respite care to support and give relief to family caregivers, who play a vital role in their loved one’s journey.
How You Can Help
There are many ways to make a difference during Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month:
Wear purple to show support and spark conversation.
Share your story to raise awareness and reduce stigma.
Support research and care organizations like the Alzheimer’s Association.
Check in on caregivers—a simple gesture can mean the world to someone providing daily care.
A Final Thought
Every individual living with Alzheimer’s is more than their diagnosis. They are artists, parents, veterans, teachers, and neighbors. At Overture Home Care, we are honored to walk beside them—and their families—through every stage of the journey.
This June, let’s come together to educate, advocate, and care. Because every mind matters.
