Welcoming Dr. Kate Taylor to Overture Home Care

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Kate Taylor, DNP, FNP-C, CPPS, FNAP to the Overture Home Care team!

Dr. Taylor is a certified family nurse practitioner and a former Army Nurse Corps officer with over 28 years of healthcare experience. She brings extraordinary expertise in geriatric care, patient safety, and interprofessional healthcare education.

Currently serving as the Assistant Dean of Clinical and Outreach Affairs at the UNT Health Science Center’s College of Nursing, Dr. Taylor is also a distinguished faculty member, legislative ambassador for Texas Nurse Practitioners, and a board member for Dementia Friendly Fort Worth. She has been recognized with the Tarrant Area Gerontological Society’s Mildred O. Hogstel Award and theTexas Nurse Practitioner’s Visionary Award.

At Overture, Dr. Taylor will play a key role in enhancing our clinical programs, deepening community partnerships, and continuing our mission of delivering compassionate, expert care to older adults.

Dr. Kate Taylor is a certified family nurse practitioner with 28 years of experience in healthcare and previously served as an Army Nurse Corps officer. Her nursing background includes roles in nursing as a hospitalist and outpatient care geriatric primary care provider. Currently, she holds the position of assistant dean of clinical and outreach affairs for the College of Nursing as an assistant professor, along with the role of an adjunct faculty member for the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, both within the University of North Texas Health Science Center. Dr. Taylor is actively involved in professional organizations, serving as the secretary of the American Association of College of Nursing’s Practice Leadership Network and as a legislative ambassador for Texas Nurse Practitioners. She is a member of the Fort Worth Region Nurse Practitioners as well as a board member for Dementia Friendly Fort Worth.

Dr. Taylor teaches an array of interprofessional learners within the university, locally, nationally, and internationally. She works extensively with the Center for Older Adults House Calls program and has a focus on advance care planning. She also has the Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) credential demonstrating proficiency in the core standard of patient safety. Dr. Taylor is a distinguished fellow of the National Academies of Practice, signifying outstanding or extraordinary contributions to interprofessional healthcare. She completed the Graduate Certificate in Academic Medicine fellowship, as the first nurse graduate of the program.  Lastly, Dr. Taylor received the Tarrant Area Gerontological Society’s Mildred O Hogstel Award and the Texas Nurse Practitioner’s Visionary Award.
