Out and About with Overture Home Care: June 2025

June has been full of meaningful moments, heartfelt celebrations, and community connection for the Overture Home Care team. From honoring caregivers and sponsoring special events to participating in Alzheimer’s advocacy and community wellness, we’ve been proud to stay active and engaged with the people and places we serve. Here's a look at what we've been up to this month!

Kicking Off the Alzheimer’s Walk Season

We were honored to celebrate the Fort Worth Alzheimer’s Walk Kickoff Party, especially since our very own Alex Helms is serving as this year’s Walk Co-Chair! We’re proud to support the Alzheimer’s Association and the important work they do to raise awareness, fund research, and support families. Families, clients and staff are all welcome to join our Overture Home Care team at the Fort Worth walk on November 15th. act.alz.org

A Night to Remember at The Richardson Senior Center

We had a fantastic time sponsoring the Senior Prom at The Richardson Senior Center! This lively, joy-filled evening was full of music, dancing, and memories made on the dance floor.

Cookies and Creativity at Board & Brush

Overture was a proud sponsor of the Mid-Cities Board & Brush referral source event, where attendees enjoyed hands-on creativity—and some sweet treats, courtesy of our cookies!

Beanbag Baseball at Pioneer Ridge

Game day fun was in full swing at Pioneer Ridge Independent Living in McKinney during our sponsored Beanbag Baseball Event! Big thanks to our Dallas Community Liaison Wanda Gaddis for hosting, and for bringing all the nostalgic snacks: peanuts, popcorn, pickles, and Babe Ruth bars.

Community Connection at Holiday Lane Estates

Vanessa represented Overture at Community Chat & Cheers at Holiday Lane Estates, where she connected with fellow professionals dedicated to excellence in older adult care.

Trending Women

We gathered with some of the most inspiring businesswomen in town for Trending Women, enjoying a delicious breakfast, incredible speaker, and fabulous door prizes. We’re always grateful to be part of this powerful network of professional women.

Van Alstyne Senior Center

Wanda brought the fun (and the door prizes!) to the Van Alstyne Senior Center, spreading smiles, playing games and building community.

Dementia Live at Highland Park Library

Julianna and Paige, both certified Dementia Live® Coaches, led an immersive Dementia Live® session at the Highland Park Library. This hands-on experience helps participants understand life with dementia and become more compassionate caregivers and community members.

CNA Week Celebrations at Clearfork and The Stayton

We celebrated CNA Week by delivering goody bags and delicious lunch boxes (from The Lunch Box!) to the dedicated CNAs at The Tradition Clearfork and The Stayton at Museum Way. These professionals are the heart of care, and we’re so thankful for all they do.

Father's Day "Par-Tee" at Watermere Preserve

It was all about dads at the Father’s Day Par-Tee at Watermere Preserve! We served up golf-themed goodies and celebrated the amazing fathers and grandfathers in the community.

Garden Party at Heartis Memory Care

Nothing says summer like lemonade and flowers! We joined Heartis Memory Care for a sweet and sunny Garden Party, planting seeds of joy alongside residents and staff.

Alzheimer’s Corporate Sponsor Luncheon

Mike attended the Alzheimer’s Association Corporate Sponsor Luncheon, connecting with Brandon Cofield, Manager of the Dallas Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and other key supporters in the fight to #ENDALZ.

The Longest Day at The Stayton

We honored The Longest Day of the year with a make-your-own lemonade bar at The Stayton, raising awareness for Alzheimer’s disease and honoring those facing it every day with strength and courage.

Tropical vibes were flowing at Discovery Village Alliance during their Beach Party Happy Hour! Vanessa served up festive drinks while everyone enjoyed a summer celebration.

Summer Socials and Casino Night

Wanda was out and about in McKinney this month, joining both the Summer Social at the McKinney Senior Center and a lively Casino Night at Country Lane McKinney. What a fun way to connect and celebrate!

Full Circle Moments at Stevenson Oaks

Our amazing nurse Kara Jones, who leads our Nurse and Caregiver Concierge programs at Stevenson Oaks, shared a heartfelt full-circle moment. She gets to reunite daily with Sharon , a beloved resident at Stevenson Oaks, who was best friends with Kara’s mother back in Natchez, LA and worked at her travel agency for years. Now they get to see each other often —what a blessing.

TAGS Summer Forum Committee Gathers

Paige and Vanessa, who are on the Tarrant Area Gerontological Society (TAGS) board, met with fellow committee members at the Hurst Conference Center to finalize plans for the upcoming TAGS Summer Forum. Healthcare professionals, mark your calendars—it’s going to be an inspiring event!

Dementia Live at Pioneer Ridge Retirement – McKinney

This month, some of our many Certified Dementia Live Coaches: Amy, Wanda and Paige, brought the Dementia Live® experience to Pioneer Ridge Retirement in McKinney, offering both residents and staff a hands-on opportunity to better understand the challenges faced by those living with dementia. Through this immersive training, participants gained valuable insight, empathy, and tools to enhance the care and support they provide every day. We’re proud to partner with communities like Pioneer Ridge that are dedicated to compassionate, informed care.

Crafting for a Cause at Country Lane McKinney

We had a meaningful afternoon at Country Lane McKinney making wreaths for Alzheimer’s awareness. Residents, staff, and our team came together to create beautiful purple-themed wreaths in honor of those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. It was a special way to raise awareness, spark conversation, and show support for a cause close to all of our hearts.

Brain Boosting Fun at Edgemere

We had a great time at Edgemere’s Brain Awareness Game Event, where Independent Living residents came together for a day of fun and cognitive engagement. Overture provided “brain healthy” snacks to keep minds sharp and spirits high while participants enjoyed trivia, puzzles, and brain games designed to promote mental wellness.

Special Resident Highlight: Phoebe the Service Dog

Finally, we couldn’t end the month without a tail-wagging highlight: Phoebe, the incredible 11-year-old service dog who lives at Stevenson Oaks, posed for a photo with our nurse , Kara. Phoebe provides comfort, care and love to Residents of Stevenson Oaks and has also visited Cook Children’s, Aledo schools, and even participated in VBS at St. Paul’s. She continues to bring comfort and smiles everywhere she goes.

Thank you to all our community partners, residents, family members, caregivers and staff who made this month so vibrant. At Overture Home Care, we’re proud to be part of a network that believes in quality care, education and resources, compassionate connections, and shared moments that matter.

Stay tuned for more summer updates in July—and as always, if you’d like to learn more about our in-home care services, we’d love to hear from you!
